When a tooth is heavily broken down or requiring a large replacement filling, sometimes a crown or cap is required to restore it to form and function. A crown covers the entire outer surface of the tooth to provide strength. Your tooth is prepared by your dentist who will then take a mould of the tooth. This mould is used by the dental technician to construct the crown in the dental laboratory. Your dental crown is then fitted at a further appointment and fixed into place using a special dental cement.
Depending on the position of the tooth and its functional needs, we will offer different types of crowns.
At Skipton Road we are fortunate to be able to offer the most up to date materials available including EMax and Zirconia ceramics.
